A familiar size is only a starting point. Two pallets with the same footprint can have different decks, bottom structures and load ratings.

Why pallet dimensions matter
A pallet must support the packaged load without excessive overhang. It also needs to work with the forklift or pallet jack, warehouse aisle, rack opening and container plan. Choosing a larger footprint than the cargo needs can waste shipping and storage space. Choosing one that is too small can leave the load poorly supported.
Before comparing models, record the cargo length, width, unit weight and packaging method. Then check the required static, dynamic and racking conditions separately.
1200 × 1000 mm plastic pallets
The 1200 × 1000 mm footprint is used for a broad range of industrial and warehouse loads. The available structure matters as much as the outside dimensions. Buyers may need a grid or flat deck, runners, a double deck, or steel reinforcement depending on the actual handling and storage conditions.

1200 × 800 mm plastic pallets
The 1200 × 800 mm footprint is commonly associated with European logistics. It can suit cartons and handling systems designed around this narrower base. Confirm the usable deck area as well as the outside dimensions, especially when packaged goods sit close to the pallet edge.
Do not assume that every 1200 × 800 mm pallet has the same entry arrangement or load rating. Check the deck, bottom structure and intended handling method for the selected model.
1100 × 1100 mm plastic pallets

The model name and footprint do not replace a load check. Confirm the packed bag dimensions, total weight, lifting method and whether the pallet will be reused.
Custom and oversized footprints

Footprint, load rating and racking suitability are separate decisions. A 1200 × 1000 mm pallet can be nestable, three-runner, six-runner or double deck. Those structures do not share one load figure.
